Dry Creek’s winter coats, shot indoors with nothing but the lamps already in the room.
Outerwear is usually photographed outside, in snow or wind. Dry Creek wanted the opposite feeling: the moment you come home, still wearing the coat, before you take it off.
We rented a living room with striped furniture and a ceiling full of warm lamps, and decided not to bring a single light of our own.
Practicals are the lamps you can see in the frame. They are warm, uneven and a little dim, which is exactly how a real room feels in winter. I swapped two bulbs for brighter ones and moved one lamp closer to the sofa. That was the whole lighting plan.
Cream coats glow under tungsten. The trick is exposing so the fur keeps its texture while the walls fall into soft shadow.
Dim rooms mean slower shutter speeds, so we worked in poses that could hold for a breath: sitting, leaning, adjusting sunglasses. The stillness ended up being the mood of the whole campaign.
